It has been over a month and Acid, Beirut’s famous LGBT
night club, has remained firmly shut. “AT”, our Beirut
correspondent, has received an unconfirmed (with the owners,
who could not be reached) report that the club, in fact, has
unfortunately been shut for good. According to the report,
upon its closure in early September, about 10 people were
detained for drug possession. It remains unclear, however,
if charges were brought forward against some or any of
them. If this report is true then indeed this seems very
uneven handed, why target Acid and not the many other...

sounds, the Lebanese capital is fast becoming a popular gay
destination. In fact, The New York Times dubbed Beirut as "the
Provincetown of the Middle East" in a 2009 article, while the
Dutch
Winq
magazine named it "the (gay) party capital of the Middle
East."
Bertho Makso, the International Gay
and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) ambassador to
Lebanon, is directing the first familiarization tour and
symposium to Lebanon for professionals who work in the LGBT

Lebanon: Owners of several movie theaters
was arrested

BEIRUT: General Security said Wednesday that
Lebanese authorities had arrested the owners of several
movie theaters. The men were arrested in the Bourj Hammoud
and Nabaa suburbs of Beirut for screening pornography, in
addition to “facilitating homosexual encounters” inside
those theaters, a statement said. Those arrested were handed
over to the Judiciary.
