UAE: Two accused of using the internet to offer sex
DUBAI // Two men who
allegedly used the internet to offer sexual services appeared
separately before the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance
yesterday.
The first man, MN, is charged with prostitution, consensual
homosexual sex, producing pornographic material, cross-dressing
and insulting religion.
The second, MF, an 18-year-old student, is charged with
prostitution.
DUBAI // A
prisoner at Central Jail yesterday dropped his claim of
homosexual assault against seven fellow inmates, despite
a medical report that the judge said proved he had been
attacked.
Appearing in court for the first time, AZ, a 32-year-old
Syrian, told the judge he was under the influence of
drugs when he lodged his allegations. He said what he
had reported was untrue.
A gay Toronto couple was detained for 28
days in Dubai for carrying the prescription arthritis drug
Celebrex, which is banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Rocky Sharma and Stephen Macleod, who have been together for
10 years, were stopped upon arrival in Dubai on Aug 2, where

Middle East. Our plan is for this to become an annual
survey, which will provide an ongoing study of gay sexual
behavior in the surveyed countries.
The brother of president Khalifa bin
Zayed has been acquitted on appeal against a fine
imposed last year for an assault at a Geneva hotel.The
court had been ordered Sheikh Falah bin Zayed bin Sultan
al-Nahyan to pay 540,000 Swiss francs for hitting an
Italian-American, Silvano Orsi, with the buckle of his
belt in the hotel in 2003...
