FUTURE TV TALK SHOW LOOKING FOR GAYS FOR INTERVIEW

Recently it has been brought to the attention of GME that the Lebanese TV station, Future Television, that hosts the popular talk show "Sireh Wou Infatahit" is looking for gays that are willing to be interviewed on the show. The only condition is that the gay person, who will participate is this live TV broadcast, will be willing to do so without disguising his identity.  No masks, no blurred faces - totally open faced without making efforts to hide.  The show is hosted by Zaven Kouyoumjian.

GME spoke this week with the TV host's assistant, Rania, and she indeed verified the story.

"As a matter of fact there was one man who requested from us to air a show dedicated to the gay community of Lebanon and in the Arab world in general.  The subject, as you know, (Rania continued), is quite forbidden in our society."

Rania agreed to organizing the program on this subject, only the condition that all is open, and none of the people being interviewed will try to hide their identity in anyway.

Rania continued that until now, no gay person has been willing to meet her condition for airing such a program.  "The interview has to be from our studio broadcast live.  We would be most interested in having a Lebanese gay person for this show, but of course if a gay person from one of our neighboring countries would want to participate he is more than welcome."  Rania repeated the importance that the interview takes place in the Future TV studios live and direct - no hiding and no intermediaries.

GME asked Rania if in the past there have been TV interviews on taboo subjects where the interviewee's identity has been hidden.  "There was one interview three years ago about prostitution in our society", Rania replied.  "Since then, we have not repeated this same mistake of doing interviews while hiding the identity of the person being interviewed. These are the rules and regulations of our talk show and,  as interested as we are in doing a show about homosexuality, we will not do it behind a veil."

Any GME reader interested in further details for possible participation in the show can contact Rania at:  future@future.com.lb
