An indictment was filed with the Beer Sheva Magistrates Court on Tuesday against three IDF infantry soldiers suspected of raping a female soldier while on vacation in Eilat.

According to the indictment, the three arrived at Eilat’s “Platinum” nightclub last Wednesday; one of the soldiers bought the female soldier drinks until she became intoxicated. The two then continued to the soldier’s room at the Club In hotel and had sex.

The soldier’s two friends arrived shortly thereafter, put the beds together and proceeded to touch the complainant, who asked the soldier to ask his friends to leave and help her gather her clothes. But the soldier answered that his friends were “gay” and that she did not have to do anything she did not want to.

The indictment stated that the three soldiers then raped and beat the female soldier, who eventually collapsed. The soldiers woke her up and called her a cab.

The female soldier suffered from vaginal bleeding, hemorrhaging and scratches to her leg; she received medical treatment at a hospital.

After being raped the soldier called her friend and told her what had happened; the friend then called the police, and the three soldiers were apprehended a short while later.

The soldiers are accused of rape, attempt to commit sodomy and indecent assault.

The court decided that a hearing regarding the request to detain the soldiers until the conclusion of the legal proceedings will be held in two weeks; until then the soldiers will remain in custody.

A fourth solder, who, according to Eilat Police, stood at the door to make sure no one would enter the room during the rape, was released. Police officials said he would be charged with failing to prevent a crime.

Attorneys for the soldiers said the accused are pleading innocent, claiming the sex with the female soldier was consensual.
