Two months ago Meril Radoi, a Romanian footballer who plays for
the Saudi Alhilal Club, was fined 20,000 Saudi Riyals (around
$5,500) and suspended for two matches after calling a Saudi
Arabian player, Hussein Abdul Ghani, who plays for Nasr Club,
gay.
The incident was widely reported in the Saudi press and caused
quite a controversy.
On the 23.5.11 the
two clubs met again for match, with Meril Radoi returning to the
game after his suspension. As is customary, players must shake
hands before the game commences only that Hussein Abdul Ghani
refused to shake Radoi's hand saying: "That's the last thing I
would do after such an abuse and offense to my dignity.
