Homosexuality is illegal and looked down upon.
The Syrian gay scene is very underground. Syria is a
fascinating, wonderful country to visit, but…if it's gay life you're
looking for, this is not the place for you.
In Damascus, there is cruising near the Chams Palace
Hotel. Eye contact is basically your means of communications. Do not
take unnecessary risks with people you are not sure about.
In Syria "the walls have ears" - so…enjoy the sites
of the country while not "looking for trouble.” You should
definitely go to Syria in order to immerse yourself in a world
completely unlike your own, to enjoy the renowned sites of a country
that has not as yet become an over traveled souvenir-ridden tourist
trap.
